Coronavirus Update January 2021

The Leeds UNISON Branch office has remained closed since 18th March 2020, with staff, Convenors and Officers currently working from home. The Branch had been moving towards a partial reopening of the office later this month, by introducing strict COVID-19 safety measures and limited occupancy. However in light of the government announcing a further national lockdown, the decision has been taken to postpone that partial reopening for the foreseeable future. Read more…

Government Cap on Public Sector Exit Payments

The Government have recently passed legislation designed to restrict the amount of money a public sector worker can receive when exiting employment. The cap is set at £95k and the Government has promoted this as affecting highly paid workers. The reality is that it will affect many members on salaries significantly smaller than this. Read more…

Recruit-a-Friend suspended

Since November 2019 Leeds UNISON has been running the Recruit-a-Friend initiative, where a member receives £10 if they get a friend or colleague to join UNISON. Unfortunately due the difficulties administering this during the COVID-19 pandemic the Branch has decided to suspend Recruit-a-Friend for the foreseeable future.
