Social Work Awards

Social Workers have worked tirelessly before and during the pandemic to help thousands of vulnerable citizens along with their families and carers.  But the role of a Social Worker is often hidden or portrayed negatively in the media, leading to staff demoralisation and a poor image of the profession.  UNISON wants the important role social workers play in society to be highlighted and celebrated.

As part of this we have long sponsored the Social Worker of the Year awards. Now in their 15th year, the awards are about recognising outstanding social work practice and celebrating the positive impact of the profession.

There are a number of award categories (see the link below) and this year, UNISON is sponsoring the Team of the Year award. This is for the team which has made a big difference through its outstanding work during these incredibly challenging times. The award is open to both adult, children and families and mental health teams.

Nominations for all categories are now open and close at midnight on Friday 23 July.  The shortlist will be announced in October and the virtual award ceremony will be held in November, where 12 inspirational social workers, social work teams and organisations will be announced as winners.

So please help us gain the recognition which great social work deserves. The full categories of awards and how to enter follows :-
